The owner of a property in Camberley Surrey was faced with a problem that many home owners can relate to. The client wanted electric gates to increase privacy of their open driveway and give the entrance an identity, however the driveway was on a steep slope which prevented the gates from swinging open freely and the client also needed additional landscaping so required a company to manage the entire construction rather than having to organise multiple contractors.
Renzland Powergates Ltd consulted with the client and designed and managed the entire project from initial visualisation, CAD drawings, through to handover and completion. The driveway was sympathetically re-profiled to allow the gates to swing freely without an obvious step. Trees were removed and decorative walls was built with bricks to match the house which retained the earth and ensured harmonisation with the entrance and house. Piers were built which were filled with concrete and re-enforcement bar the brick piers also were designed with a built-in rear access letter box and a flush mounted GSM entry phone system and house name sign in Welsh slate was engraved and finished in silver patina . Reconstituted stone piers were installed which visually give the piers balance and a more foreboding look. At the base we installed granite sets and fitted LED low voltage stainless steel up lighters activated on a dusk/dawn sensor to give the gates a warm welcome home on dark evenings. The gates fitted we a customised version from our ready made range, straight bar was used, galvanised, painted and hand finished in silver patina. Finally hydraulic underground 24v motors was selected hydraulic gate operators were chosen due to them being faster, more powerful and engineered to have a longer life expectancy than electro-mechanical operators the motors were force tested and CE marked to comply with the machinery directive. As a final touch the owner wanted a system where he could open his gates and garage door without having multiple remote controls, therefore we installed “flash to open” whereby the owner flashes his car headlights once to open the gates and twice to open the garage this will only work on his car so there are no security issues.
“When I was advised to install a security gate I believed that it would be a simple and straightforward process. I could not have been more wrong. “Details” such as piers, operating systems, lights, name signs, mail box and many more items had to be decided on. You were a great guide through the maze and your advice was always spot on. It is not often these days that one finds a contractor who takes such a personal interest in the customer’s project and informs him frequently and accurately about all aspects of the job. The people you employ were excellent; they did a very good job, were fast and very pleasant to deal with. As you will have noticed, I am not easy to please but you and your guys managed to do just that. Apart from the fact that your quoted price was very reasonable compared with three competitors I appreciated the items that you threw in Free of Charge. I have no hesitation in recommending you to any potential customer Thanks for a great job””
